3.75+ weighted grade-point average (GPA) by the end of the first semester of the student’s junior year or senior year. Qualifying students will receive their application after grades are verified for the first semester (early February). Once a student is inducted, their GPA will be checked after the first semester of their senior year to ensure that they are continuing to meet the scholarship requirement.

While there are no requirements for volunteer hours in order to be accepted in the NHS, the Faculty Council recommends that students engage with school and community events whenever possible. Students in the NHS must earn 45 hours of community service THROUGH NHS approved service projects. Please note that a maximum of five hours will be awarded for student aiding.

Students being considered for membership must not have any suspensions or expulsions during the school year in which they apply. If a student has a suspension or expulsion during their time as a member, they will be subject to disciplinary action and/or dismissal from the chapter.

Prospective members and current members must meet all guidelines and requirements to maintain active membership in the National Honor Society and earn their cords. The Faculty Council actively encourages students to take on leadership roles within the chapter and in other clubs/activities/organizations.

The induction fee/dues for members of the GlenOak Chapter of NHS shall be $15.00 for senior members and $30.00 for junior members. Chapter dues are to be paid prior to induction (March/April).

Chapter meetings will be scheduled once a month immediately after school, typically on the first Tuesday of the month. The date and location of each meeting will be provided to all members on a chapter calendar at the first chapter meeting in the fall of each new school year.  

Induction practice for current members only will take place on March 31, 2025. Induction for new members will take place on April 1, 2025.

Students who have met the requirements for membership in the NHS through April of their senior year will receive their honor cords on April 28, 2025.
