Safe Routes Grant
A $775,425 Safe Routes to School grant will fund new pedestrian safety improvements near Glenwood Intermediate School.
The planned project includes a sidewalk or shared-use path along 44th Street, a mid-block crossing with a refuge island and flashing beacon, and a walkway connecting 44th Street directly to Glenwood’s main entrance. These additions will create safer, more accessible routes for students, families and community members traveling near the school.
Plain Local Schools is grateful to the City of Canton and its officials for leading this initiative, as well as the Ohio Department of Transportation for investing in student and community safety. District representatives were pleased to partner with the City as plans were developed to address pedestrian access around Glenwood. Read the full Canton Repository article here: bit.ly/4x8rQMZ
