Support Our Student Performers: Upcoming Arts Events at Plain Local Schools  2024-2025

As the calendar year begins to come to a close, it's the perfect time to celebrate and support the arts in our schools. Our talented students have been hard at work preparing a lineup of memorable performances that showcase their dedication, creativity, and passion. Mark your calendars and join us for these special events, each providing a unique experience on GlenOak High School’s Abbey Foltz Stage and Black Box, Oakwood Middle School Theater, and Glenwood Intermediate Little Theater. Here’s what’s coming up:

November Performances: 

Oakwood Holiday Band Concert

• Date & Time: Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 7:00
• Location: Oakwood Middle School Theater
• Free Admission
• About the Show: This will bring holiday cheer to one and all. 7th and 8th grade band students will perform a winter wonderland of music.

Glenwood Strings Premier Concert

• Date & Time: Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 6:00PM (6th grade and Beginning strings) and 7:15PM (5th grade strings) 
• Location: Oakwood Middle School Theater
• Free Admission
• About the Show: 5th and 6th graders will shine while they demonstrate their new strings skills and musical talents.

Fall Ballet: Cinderella with a Twist

• Dates & Times: Saturday, November 23, at 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM
• Ticket Prices: Balcony seats: $12.00, Upper and lower orchestra seats: $15.00 and Balcony box seats: $18.00

• About the Show: This unique twist on the classic fairy tale brings a fresh perspective to the story of Cinderella, performed by our student dancers. Don’t miss this enchanting reimagining!

Glenwood Winter Band Concert

• Date & Time: Monday, November 25, 2024
  • 5th Grade at 6:30  PM
  • 6th Grade at 7:30 PM
• Location:  Glenwood Gymnasium
• Free Admission
• About the Show: Our 5th and 6th grade band students will share their music for the first time this year. This will also feature the debut of this year’s sixth grade select band!

December Performances: 

GlenOak High School and Oakwood Middle School Guitar Ensemble Winter Recital

• Date & Time: Wednesday, December 4, 2024   at  7:00 PM  
• Location: Glenwood Intermediate School Theater
• Free Admission
• About the Show: Join us for a wonderful evening of music. This special performance will showcase the talented students from both schools as they present a variety of festive and classical pieces on guitar.

Glenwood Intermediate School Choir Concert (A Day Choirs):

• Date & Time: Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 7:00 PM
• Location: Oakwood Middle School Theater 
• Free Admission
• About the Show: The Glenwood A Day Choirs present their first concert of the year. The concert will feature the 5th graders and 6th graders from A Day classes and The Select Choir.

GlenOak Theater: ‘Twas Game Night Before Christmas

  • Friday, December 6 at 6:30 PM

• About the Show: In this heartwarming adventure, six kids receive a new game and must embark on a journey to save Christmas by facing off against a fierce dragon. This playful performance is perfect for the whole family!

Oakwood Middle School Choir Holiday Concert

• Date & Time: Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 
  • 7th Grade: 5:30pm
  • 8th Grade: 7:00pm
• Location: Oakwood Middle School Theater

• About the Show: The Oakwood choir’s premiere performance this year. The concert will feature the 7th grade, 8th grade, and Select Choirs.

GlenOak High School Holiday Band Concert 

• Date & Time: Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 7:00 PM
• Location: GlenOak High School Theater
• Free Admission
• About the Show: The concert will feature jazz bands and concert bands performing a variety of music, including holiday favorites. Jazz I and Jazz II will kick off the concert and feature many different styles of big band music with several soloists. Our Concert Band and Symphonic Winds will also be performing festive holiday arrangements. 

Glenwood Intermediate School Choir Concert (B Day Choirs)

• Date & Time: Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 7:00 PM
• Location: Oakwood Middle School Theater

• About the Show: The Glenwood B Day Choirs present their first concert of the year. The concert will feature the 5th graders and 6th graders from B-Day classes and the Select Choir.

GlenOak High School Strings Winter Concert

• Date & Time: Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 7:00 PM
• Location: GlenOak High School Theater
• Free Admission
• About the Show: This performance will feature the talented string musicians from GlenOak High School as they perform a selection of classical and holiday pieces.

Plain Local Youth Choir, Glenwood Intermediate, and Oakwood Middle Schools Select Choirs Performance

• Date & Time: Monday, December 16, 2024 at 7:00 PM
• Location:  Oakwood Middle School Theater
• Free Admission
• About the Show: A collaboration between all of the district’s select groups K-8. This performance will feature Oakwood Select, Glenwood Select, and the Plain Local Youth Choir. Come and enjoy choral selections for the holidays!

GlenOak High School Holiday Choir Concert

• Date & Time: Tuesday, December 17, showtimes at 6:00 PM and 8:15 PM

• About the Show: Join us for an enchanting evening of movement and celebration, highlighting the creativity and hard work of our students.

Plain Local Schools: YOUnity Night

• About the Event: YOUnity Night is a FREE community celebration showcasing our district's unique spirit and diversity through the arts. Come enjoy an evening filled with talent and creativity!

Plain Local Schools: Just Plain Dance

• Date & Time: Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 7:00 PM
• Location: GlenOak High School Theater
• Tickets: $6.00 each

• About the Event: A lively dance competition featuring teams of staff members from each of our nine schools, with all proceeds supporting arts programming.
