Meet OWMS New Assistant Principal
Oakwood is excited to introduce Mark Yocum as its new Assistant Principal for the upcoming school year. With an impressive background in education and a commitment to fostering student success, Mark is ready to lead the Oakwood community.
Mark brings 12 years of experience as an elementary teacher, followed by 15 years in administrative roles. His diverse background also includes coaching seventh-grade girls basketball for one year, demonstrating his dedication to both academic and athletic development for students.
This summer, Mark is enjoying time with family while traveling to several exciting destinations, including Nevada, Kentucky, and Tennessee. These trips are creating lasting memories and enriching experiences for him and his loved ones.
Family is a central part of Mark's life. His wife, Jennifer, is a dedicated fifth-grade math teacher in North Canton. They are proud parents of three daughters: Kelsey, who is married and lives in Xenia, Ohio; Lindsey, who is home from New York City, where she attends The American Musical and Dramatic Academy; and Olivia, their youngest, who is a junior at Hoover High School.
Mark shares his enthusiasm for the upcoming school year, stating, "I am looking forward to reconnecting with many students and their families, as well as making new connections." His focus on building relationships within the Oakwood community sets a positive tone for the school year ahead.
