Board Approves Derek Nottingham as Treasurer

At the May 6 Special Board of Education meeting, we were excited to approve the hiring of Derek Nottingham as the district’s next Treasurer for the 2026-2027 school year. Derek will begin his role on August 1 and brings nearly 20 years of experience in public school finance, most recently serving as Treasurer for Louisville City Schools. Throughout his career, Derek has built a strong reputation for responsible financial leadership, long-term planning, and a commitment to supporting students and school communities.
We are excited to welcome Derek to Eagle Nation and look forward to the experience and leadership he will bring to Plain Local Schools.
Meet GlenOak’s New Athletic Director

At the May 6 Special Board of Education meeting, Kyle Sasala was approved as the district’s next Athletic Director.
Kyle will begin his role on June 15 and joins Plain Local Schools from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where he currently serves as Athletic Director. His passion for building strong relationships and creating meaningful opportunities for student-athletes aligns closely with the culture of GlenOak Athletics and our district as a whole.
We are excited to welcome Kyle to Eagle Nation and look forward to the energy he will bring to our students, coaches, and athletic programs. Please join us in giving him a warm Plain Local welcome as he begins this new role.
Scott Garcia Concludes Distinguished Career

Longtime Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Scott Garcia will retire from both roles at the end of the current school year.
Throughout his career at Plain Local Schools, Scott has made a tremendous impact on GlenOak Athletics and the many student-athletes, coaches, and families he has supported over the years. His leadership, dedication, and passion for excellence have helped shape Eagle Nation on and off the field.
Scott will be recognized alongside all district retirees at the May Board of Education meeting on May 20 at GlenOak High School, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Celebrating Mark Parent’s Service to Plain Local Schools
Director of Pupil Personnel Mark Parent will retire at the end of the current school year after years of dedicated

service to Plain Local Schools. We are grateful that Mark will continue supporting the district in a reduced part-time role during the 26-27 school year.
Throughout his time in Plain Local, Mark has provided steady leadership, support for students and families, and a deep commitment to helping meet the needs of all learners across our district. His impact on our schools and community has been meaningful and lasting.
Mark will be recognized alongside all district retirees at the May Board of Education meeting on May 20 at GlenOak High School beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Diane Ringer to Join Stark County ESC

We would like to share that Preschool Director Diane Ringer will be transitioning to the Stark County Educational Service Center.
Diane has led our preschool program with tremendous care and dedication, helping shape meaningful experiences for our Little Eagles and their families. We are grateful for the many ways she has supported students and staff throughout her time with the district.

Camille Anderson Named Preschool Director

We are excited to share that Barr Elementary Principal Camille Anderson will transition into the role of Preschool Director for Plain Local Schools for the 26-27 school year.
Mrs. Anderson's leadership experience and dedication to building strong relationships will continue to strengthen our preschool program and support our youngest Little Eagles as they begin their educational journey.

Jerad Buck Joining Curriculum Department

GlenOak High School Academy Principal and Career Tech Coordinator Jerad Buck will be transitioning to the Curriculum Department for the 26-27 school year.
In his role, Mr. Buck will continue to be housed at GlenOak High School and will remain an important part of our Career Tech Education program as Career Tech Coordinator. His commitment to expanding opportunities for students has made a meaningful impact across our district within our growing CTE programs.

Taft Principal Pursues New Opportunity

After nearly 20 years with Plain Local Schools, Taft Elementary Principal Kortney Milford has announced she will be resigning from her position at the conclusion of the school year to pursue a new professional opportunity. Milford shared that over the past several years, she has been building a company focused on supporting educators and schools through leadership support, writing, and consulting opportunities. What began as a passion project has grown into an opportunity to impact education on a larger scale full-time.
A proud product of Plain Local Schools, Milford has served the district as a student, teacher, and principal. She shared that Plain Local Schools has had a tremendous impact on both her personal and professional life and expressed gratitude for the relationships, experiences, and opportunities that helped shape her as both a person and leader. Milford also shared that she looks forward to remaining connected to the district as both a parent and community member while continuing to cheer on the incredible work happening throughout Plain Local Schools.
Meet Our New Assistant Food Service Director

Tailor Schreffler joined Plain Local Schools this spring as our new Assistant Director of Food Service, bringing valuable experience from both Brown Local and Carrollton Exempted Village Schools. Through her work in school nutrition, Tailor has developed a strong understanding of the important role food service plays in supporting students each day and helping schools run smoothly behind the scenes.
Outside of work, Tailor enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, and their dog, Birdie. Whether she’s cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, exploring the outdoors, running, or hiking, she values staying active and making meaningful family memories.
