Congratulations Class of 2026
The Plain Local Schools Class of 2026 officially turned their tassels on Tuesday, May 26, as 441 graduates were celebrated during commencement ceremonies held at Bob Commings Field inside GlenOak High School Stadium. A total of 428 students participated in the ceremony on a beautiful Ohio evening, surrounded by family, friends, staff, and community members.
The ceremony featured remarks from Superintendent Brent May and Board of Education President Jennifer Fitzsimmons, who both encouraged graduates to carry forward the lessons, relationships, and experiences that shaped their time as Golden Eagles.
Student speakers also reflected on the journey of the Class of 2026, including Summa Scholar Molly Utterback, Class Choice speaker Braxton Martin, Outstanding Senior Boy Matthew Rekstis, and Outstanding Senior Girl Charlie Burton.
The Class of 2026 also marked an important milestone for GlenOak High School as the first graduating class recognized through the district’s new Latin Honors system. In total, 146 students earned academic distinctions, including Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude honors, recognizing outstanding academic achievement throughout their high school careers.
As the ceremony concluded beneath a sunset sky and cheers from the crowd, the newest GlenOak alumni officially began their next chapter. Go Eagles!
