Mr. Branch has a wide amount of experience in the video production industry including over 15 years of freelance work for clients nationally and the better part of a decade working full-time work for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Previous to working at Goodyear, Mr. Branch was employed with an Akron based Video Production company.
Mr. Branch’s video work has been seen on over 500 TV stations across the country including History, Speed, ESPN, A&E, Discovery, Fox, Fox News & Telemundo. Mr. Branch has 100+ TV commercials to his credit and well thousands of video projects.
Mr. Branch has an Associate Degree in Communications and a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management as well as a Master's Degree in Career-Technical Education from Kent State University.
Mr. Branch enjoys teaching because it is tangible and exciting to watch the next generation of America’s workforce discover their creativity and communication skills.

For the upcoming 2017/2018 school year, students should have a 3-ring binder, Notebook, pens/pencils and a 16gb Class 10 SD Card. I recommend SanDisk and Transcend brands.
The Video Production program at GlenOak HS is a three-year program, made up of sophomore, junior, and senior level classes. This program aims to instruct students in industry-standard techniques and skills in our state-of-the-art production studio, while building professional character and communication traits.
Our class is seriously “hands-on” and practical allowing students to learn at their own pace and specialize in areas where strengths are apparent, while learning how to demonstrate creativity. This class is a good mix between serious and fun, do your best to remember that.
Our unique program aims to prepare students for the fast-paced world of video production in a fun, supportive, and hands-on environment, that function more like a business than a classroom.
This program will prepare students for industry careers in fields such as: broadcasting, cinematic film production, corporate communications, advertising, public relations, web-based production, journalism, etc.
A successful student in this course will learn to work well independently and in groups, develop and execute creative thought, connect appropriate visuals to storylines and communicate ideas in a plethora of mediums.
Intro to Video Production
Students are exposed to industry standard video editing and shooting techniques as well as general computer and communication skills. Students start the course working with still images in Photoshop and progress to working with moving images in professional video editing software. Students will demonstrate discernment and creativity to produce compelling and interesting content in a project based learning environment. The class features a multitude of hands-on experiences and real-world interaction with technology such as video cameras, light kits, microphones, green screens, video switchers, etc. Students work on a variety of projects in an individual and collaborative settings. Students will learn how to adequately record video, edit video, and produce graphics with Photoshop while learning media literacy and storytelling.
Video Production I
In this Career-Tech class students are prepared for a variety of careers in Video Production and related industries (Film, TV, Marketing, Journalism, PR, Graphic Design, Video Game Design). Students are provided with real-world experience working in our State of the Art production studio. Students use HD cameras and industry standard software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, etc) to create technically accurate and visually compelling productions. Students will learn skills and techniques from both behind and in front of the camera that include news broadcasts, sporting events, short films, music videos, TV commercials, etc. This program requires participation in a flexible schedule outside of the school day to capture school events (Sporting Events, Musical, etc). The class features a multitude of hands-on experiences and real-world interaction with technology such as light kits, microphones, green screens, video switchers, etc. Students work on a variety of projects in an individual and collaborative settings. Junior students will finish the year by creating a Demo Reel of their work.
Video Production II
Video Production II builds upon the skills taught in Video Production I. The Senior year is predominantly project based with a Sr. Capstone project being the focus of the 4th 9 weeks. VP II provides hands-on experience with professional television production/video equipment and digital editing including DSLR cameras and Special Effects software. Students will produce programming for Eagle Television. This program does require participation in a flexible schedule outside of the school day for the capture of various school events throughout the year (Sports, Plays/Musicals, etc). Projects include: short films, interviews, motion graphics, music videos, commercials, etc.
