November 2026 Bond Information

On November 3, 2026, Plain Local voters will decide whether to fund the local share of a facility plan that would replace seven aging elementary schools with three new schools and secure an estimated $84 million in state funding. Review the plan, taxpayer impact, project timeline, and key facts below before casting your vote.

Why Now?

For more than a decade, Plain Local Schools has studied facility needs, gathered community input, and evaluated options for the future. Below are some key points:

  • 71 Years - The average age of Plain Local’s school buildings, excluding GlenOak High School.

  • Aging Infrastructure - Ongoing investments needed in HVAC, roofing, plumbing, electrical, parking, and accessibility.

  • Uncertainty with State Funding - 4.4 million reduction in state funding for Plain Local Schools, in FY26 & FY 27.
  • $84 Million - Current estimated state partnership opportunity through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) available.
  • May 2027 Deadline - Plain Local must secure local funding approval by May 2027 to continue under the existing partnership with the state of Ohio.

The Decision Before Voters

Slide titled “The Choice Facing the Plain Local Community” compares two paths for the November 3, 2026 vote. One path maintains seven aging elementary schools with ongoing repair costs and no guaranteed state partnership. The other replaces them with three new schools, uses an estimated $84 million in state funding and projects $45 million in operational savings over about 10 years. The current OFCC agreement expires in May 2027.

Voters will decide whether to continue investing in seven aging elementary schools or replace them with three new schools through the current state partnership.
