May 2026 Bond Information

Under Ohio law, bond funds can only be used for capital improvements related to buildings and facilities.

Examples of allowable uses include:

• Construction of new school buildings
• Renovation or expansion of existing facilities
• Safety and infrastructure improvements
• Furnishing and equipping classrooms and common areas
• Site improvements such as parking, access roads, or utilities
• Acquisition or preparation of land for school facilities
• Demolition of outdated or unused buildings

Under Ohio law, bond funds may only be used for construction and facility-related projects. They cannot be used for daily operating expenses such as salaries, utilities, or classroom supplies.

The proposed bond issue is 3.5 mills. A mill represents $1 for every $1,000 of a property’s assessed value.

Actual tax impact varies depending on property valuation. The Stark County Auditor determines assessed property values and calculates the exact tax amount for each property.

• Home market value: $100,000
• Assessed value (35%): $35,000

3.5 mills × $35,000 assessed value = $122.50 per year

Actual tax impact will vary based on property valuation determined by the Stark County Auditor.

• January 2026: Bond issue filed with the Stark County Board of Elections.
• Spring 2026: Community information and public education about the proposal.
• May 2026: Voters decide on the bond issue during the primary election.

If approved, the bond issue would begin in 2026 and could remain in place for up to 37 years.
