Summer Break has arrived! We had a truly fantastic year. Our students learned and grew so much academically and socially. We accomplished many great things. I am already excited for 2019-2020!
Parents often ask what they can do to help their children maintain the great progress they've made during the school year over the summer months. For students in elementary school, there are a few simple things parents can do that have tremendous impact! First, your children should read something each day! Even if for only a few minutes some days, reading is the single most important academic activity we recommend. Your children should read to you, tell you about what they're reading, and share with a friend or relative their favorite parts of a recent story someone else read to them. They should read books they love.
The other very important thing parents can do for their children over the summer months is allow them to play and socialize with other children. This is so very important to students' social development, and is often overlooked as important to school success. Play and appropriate social interaction are truly important foundations of successful and happy students!
If you need assistance, please reach out to me through email over the summer months. Our office will be staffed and open for the 2019-2020 school year on officially beginning August 1st, but I can answer questions or provide assistance throughout June and July. Simply reach out through email.
Enjoy these months off with your children and I wish your families a wonderful summer break!
Yours in partnership,
