As the first grading period winds to a close, I want to point out some of the accomplishments we have made at Avondale this first 9-weeks. First, our kindergarteners are into the groove of school and exceeding our expectations with how well they have transitioned into school, are getting into the routine of things and learning so much! They even took their first field trip to the pumpkin patch.
Our first graders are working hard and really taking off with their reading. It's amazing to hear them read with pride in their voices. They also visited an apple orchard and represented Avondale in an excellent manner. Our second grade students are setting a fine example for their younger peers. They are model students and SOAR every day at Avondale. We are proud of them.
Third grade students have done a wonderful job transitioning from primary grades to intermediate expectations. They have learned to switch classes and are growing into independent students. Our fourth grade students are getting ready to complete their first STEM project. Many of them have also been chosen to be Student Leaders and Mentors (SLAM) tutors for our younger learners each morning. Our Blended students have been working on problem-based learning and at-home projects. The students work together and also independently to enhance their learning.
Not only do Avondale students strive for academic excellence, they also strive to be amazing citizens. At Avondale, we SOAR (S - Show Respect O - Own our Choices A - Act Kindly R - Ready to Learn) each and every day. The students also get to participate in activities like Guys With Ties, SLAM, Before/After School Enrichment, Community Service Projects (Helping Veterans) and so much more. Our Eagles are all-around great kids!
