GlenOak High School Career Academies offer every student the unique opportunity to customize their own learning environment. A career academy is a small learning community within a school.

GlenOak is divided into four houses featuring seven academies
• Ninth Grade Academy (Transition from MS/HS)
• Arts and Communications / Environmental Science
• Business / Human Services
• Health / Industrial Technology

Small school approach within a large high school

• Approx 500 students per house

• 9th Grade students take the Buckeye Council Survey to help identify career interest

• Investigation of Career Pathways (Grade 9)

• Selection of a Career Pathway (Grades 10-12)

• College and Career Readiness

• Project Based / Problem Solving

• Senior Year – Culminating Experience (Capstone Project)

Students enrolled in career academies can:


  • Earn college credits through the dual-enrollment program with area colleges and universities while taking career and technical courses at GlenOak
  • Study and work in a 21st Century high school that includes a branch of the Stark County District Library
  • Pursue industry certification in many areas of career and technical studies
  • Become better prepared to enter a two-year or four-year college, enter the workforce or military
