GlenOak High School Senior Meeting Packet 

Please note: Any senior NOT planning on marching with the Class of 2019 needs to contact his/her principal or guidance counselor as soon as possible.  Diplomas for students not participating in commencement exercises will be available on May 30.

BOOKS & FEES:  Please be aware that all library books, textbooks, fines, fees, and dues must be paid in full.  Failure to do so will result in the withholding of your diploma and transcripts.

CAP, GOWN & TASSEL: A cap, gown and tassel should be ordered through Jostens. Call 1-800-JOSTENS [567-8367] for order placement, payments and general questions. Or visit them online at The price will increase the closer we get to graduation.

GRADUATION CEREMONY: TUESDAY, MAY 28, 7:00 pm, Canton Civic Center. 

All seniors must arrive in the McKinley Room no later than 5:30 pm.  Be sure to check in with your attendance taker upon arrival.

Dress Guidelines:

  • Ladies: Dress, and dress shoes. Dresses should not extend beyond the length of the graduation gown.
  • Men:    Dress slacks, white shirts, ties, dress shoes and socks required.
  • Both:   Gym shoes and/or casual footwear are inappropriate for this formal occasion.

GRADUATION REHEARSAL: TUESDAY, MAY 28, 8:00 – 11:00 am, Canton Civic Center.
Students are to arrive no later than 7:45 am. Rehearsal will last approximately 2.5 hours.  Failure to attend graduation rehearsal will result in loss of participation in graduation that evening.  Regular school day dress code is required and in effect.  Free parking in the deck has been provided during rehearsal, compliments of the Plain Local Board of Education.

GRADUATION CEREMONY TICKETS: Up to TEN Ceremony Admission Tickets will be distributed to each senior in their Academy office beginning May 2.  There is a strict limit of TEN TICKETS per graduate – no exceptions. Please limit invited guests to immediate family. In order to receive their tickets, students must complete the Senior Survey at

Handicap seating: Handicap seating will be available on the main floor of the Civic Center. Family members are welcome to be seated in the handicap areas with family members requiring handicap accommodations.  No special tickets are required.

Parking: Attendees should allow plenty of time due to traffic congestion the day of graduation. Approximately 4,000 people will be arriving at the Civic Center. Also, a parking fee of $6 will be charged for the parking deck the day of graduation. Carpooling is recommended. In addition, area businesses will tow cars – please observe the “no parking” areas.  Cash or Check only will be accepted. No credit cards.

Pictures: A professional picture will be taken of each graduate receiving his/her diploma. They will contact you regarding a complementary picture along with additional purchase information. Parents may take photos from the roped off section adjacent to the stage exit steps on the south side of the Civic Center.  No one will be permitted to cross the floor for photos during any part of the ceremony or processionals.

DIPLOMAS: As you walk across the stage, you will receive an empty diploma cover. Actual diplomas can be picked up in the McKinley Room following the graduation ceremony.  Diplomas will not be available for pick up at graduation for any student who has not paid all school fees by Thursday May 23rd. After graduation, diplomas will be available in the main office during normal office hours beginning May 30th.

PROM 2019: The GlenOak High School Junior/Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the La Pizzeria Restaurant from 6:00 - 10:00 pm.  Doors open at 5:30 pm for pictures with dinner starting at 6:00 pm. Tickets will be on sale April 18 - May 2 through an online website.  The cost for tickets will be $50 per guest and includes a sit-down family style unlimited dinner, dessert, dancing and gift. Junior/Senior students are permitted to bring a sophomore guest to prom. Out of district guests are welcome if invited by a GlenOak student, but must be at least a sophomore and registered by completing a permission form prior to purchasing a ticket. A photographer will be present at the event and photos will be available for purchase for an additional cost.  There will be a “no late entry/no re-entry” policy strictly enforced at Prom.

SENIOR ACADEMIC AWARDS PROGRAM: Our annual Senior Academic Recognition Program will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:30 pm at GlenOak High School Auditorium.

SENIORS EXAMS, PLATO CLASSES and FLORIDA VIRTUAL:  The seniors’ last day of classes is Friday, May 10. Senior exams are scheduled for May 13, 14, 15 and 16.  ALL PLATO and FLORIDA VIRTUAL courses must be completed by Wednesday, May 15. Please be aware that GlenOak High School policy states that students who do not complete final exams will receive an ‘F’ for the percentage of their grade that the exam is worth.  This last week of school for graduating seniors is critical. 


SENIOR WALK AND PICNIC: In cap and gown, seniors will be transported to the elementary, intermediate and middle schools throughout the district where students, teachers and principals will cheer you on and celebrate your graduation from GlenOak High School as you march through the halls. The Senior Walk will take place on Friday, May 24 from 9:00 - 11:30 am before the Senior Picnic.

After the Senior Walk, a Senior Picnic has been planned for Friday, May 24 on the lawn outside of D-Wing at the high school, compliments of the admin team who wish the Class of 2019 all the best. Seniors are asked to arrive following the senior walk for lunch or by 11:30 am.  Only seniors will be permitted on the lawn outside of D-Wing for this luncheon. Students do not have to participate in the walk to come for the picnic.

SENIOR SURVEY:  Complete your SENIOR SURVEY at before April 30. This is how you will order your Ceremony Tickets, request where to send your Final Transcript, record any Scholarships received and list your future plans.

  • May 24: Senior Walk and Picnic 9:00 - 11:30 am
  • May 28: Graduation Rehearsal, 8:00 – 11:00 am, Canton Civic Center.
    Graduation Ceremony, 7:00 pm, Canton Civic Center; graduates arrive at 5:30 pm.


  • TURNED IN ALL BOOKS AND MATERIALS and PAID ALL FINES AND FEES by MAY 23, 2019– failure to do so will result in the withholding of your diploma and transcripts will not be sent to colleges.
  • COMPLETED YOUR SENIOR SURVEY at – This will ensure you will receive your tickets for the Graduation Ceremony AND that your final transcript will be sent without charge to the college of your choice.
