Kidz BEAT (Bridging Education and the Arts at Trinity) is a new after-school arts weekly program being offered at Trinity United Church of Christ (located directly across Fulton Rd. from Avondale School) beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22nd from 4-6 p.m. STUDENTS FROM AVONDALE WILL BE PICKED UP BY THE TRINITY BUS AND TRANSPORTED. This creative afterschool program focuses on the arts and will include classes in music/singing, drama, handbells/handchimes, movement, drumming, visual arts and Kid's Club. Kidz BEAT is open to all children in grades K-6 and there is no cost to attend.

A typical Wednesday schedule includes students receiving a generous snack when they arrive. After the snack, kids will have free time until classes start at 4:30 p.m. Free time activities will be games, arts and crafts, and study time. Class time begins at 4:30 p.m. where students will receive fun but structured instruction. Classes offered in the first six-week session include Singing/Music, Handbell/Handchime Ringing, Movement, Drama and Kid's Club (crafts and recreation). Classes are broken down into two grade level groups: K-2 and 3-6. Classes run in 6-week sessions and students will participate in three 30 minute classes each Wednesday. Children are picked up by the parents/guardians at 6 p.m. at the church.

At the end of each six-week session, families and friends are invited to a short program at the church to see what the students have accomplished as the classes perform theri music, skits, and movement peices. Kidz BEAT supports the mission of the Plan Local Schools and seeks to provide instruction to foster competences in Character and the Arts. Kidz BEAT is a place for children to explore and develop their talents and creativity in a supportive and cooperative environment- a fun, safe, respectful community for children to play and learn.
