Congratulations to the Plain Local students that participated in the Stark County Exceptional Olympics on Friday!

May 17-18, 2013

Plain Local Schools has partnered with the Canton Relay for Life to bring the 2013 Relay events to the campus of GlenOak High School.  The event will be held May 17-18, 2013 at GlenOak Stadium, Bob Commings Field.  The walk begins Friday night at 6:00pm and continues until 12:00pm on Saturday.

Congratulations to Beth Waseity for being named Plain Local's Teacher of The Year for the 2103 school year.  Mrs. Waseity teaches 8th grade at Oakwood and has been instrumental in the success of the STEM program.  Also, congratulations to Josh Branch for being named Plain Local's Rookie of The Year for the 2013 school year.  Mr. Branch teaches Video Productions at GlenOak High School.  The pair were recognized last week at a banquet held at R.G. Drage Career Center.

We will honor the class of 2013 at GlenOak High School's commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

The GlenOak High School Band is selling raffle tickets for a Lebron James Autographed Basketball.  The winner will receive a red, white and blue Nike souvenir ball signed by Lebron in honor of the United States basketball team winning the gold medal in the 2008 Olympics.  The drawing will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013.  Tickets are 1 for $1.00, 6 for $5.00, 15 for $10.00 and 40 for $20.00. Winner need not be present.  All proceeds benefit PLIMPA.  To purchase tickets, call Joni Young at (330) 309-5039.

The Plain Local School District offers Ohio Graduation (OGT) classes and testing and courses for credit recovery and advancement over the summer.

 

All classes are held at GlenOak High School. More information (including eligibility and code of conduct) and registration forms can be obtained by downloading the brochure below.  Student should contact their high school counselors for more information.

The GlenOak Kickoff Club will once again host their annual dark hardwood mulch sale every Saturday beginning April 27 – May 25.

The dark hardwood mulch will be available for pick up at GlenOak High School or can be delivered to your home for an additional fee. Pre-orders must be placed the Wednesday prior to Saturday delivery. The club will begin taking orders in April.  Pickup orders are $24 per yard or $30 for delivery.  For more information contact Jerri Warstler at 330-493-4656 or 330-312-0062.

We have purchased Study Island accounts for all students in grades 9-12 in order to help them prepare for the upcoming Ohio Graduation Test (OGT), Advanced Placement (AP) and ACT tests. Study Island user names and passwords will be available from all teachers and counselors on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

The Spirit Shop located at GlenOak HS is open to the public every Wednesday from 5:00-7:00pm and Saturday from 9:00-11:00am. Enter the building using the east door #17.

The Plain Local School District is pleased to announce that the transaction fees for the PayForIt online system have been waived until May 2013!  The PayForIt system offer parents a convenient way to pay their child’s school fees and pre-pay and manage lunch accounts online.
