Andrews named Coordinator of Technology
The Plain Local School District is pleased to announce that Joe Andrews will be joining the district as Coordinator of Technology Integration. The Board of Education hired Andrews at their regular meeting on January 12.
As Coordinator of Technology Integration, Andrews will oversee the administrative and leadership aspects of the Plain Local Technology Department and will work directly with district staff members to provide functional guidance in the use of technology.
“We are very pleased to welcome Joe Andrews back to Plain Local. Joe’s experience and ability to provide functional guidance to our teaching staff make him an important part of our vision,” said Superintendent Christopher Smith. “Joe will work with our leadership team, students and staff to grow our partnerships with Dell and Global Scholars. He will serve in a leadership role as we continue to develop innovative solutions to increase student access to technology and student achievement.”
Andews currently serves as the Technology Director for the Louisville City School District, and previously served as Technology Integration Specialist for Plain Local. He began his career as an elementary teacher before moving into educational technology for the last nine years.
Andrews received his Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Akron and a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Toledo. He is currently working on his administrative certificate at Ashland University.
“I am happy to have the opportunity to return to Plain Local,” said Andrews. “It is an exciting time to be working with the teachers and staff as they embark on new cutting edge technologies.”
Andrews hiring fills a vacancy in the Plain Schools that was left when Technology Director Jim Gertz retired in the Spring of 2009.
